Transfer your Web Site / Web Hosting to Digital Ark

Like with car insurance you should check that you are getting the best deal on your web site hosting.  When was the last time you checked to see you were getting the best deal?

How to transfer Web Hosting

Contact us and advise us that you wish to transfer web hosting to Digital Ark.  This will help us understand your  requirements so that we can provide advice on what web hosting package you need.

Advise your current web host that you wish to transfer.  The actual process will vary from web host to web host.  Some may charge a release fee and others may not.  You will not know until you ask.

The key requirements for making a transfer is to get the domain name servers changed so that the y are pointed to Digital Ark.  While this may sound complicated this is very simple and we will provide you with a short piece of text that you  then can pass to your existing web host.

The name servers need to be changed to the following:

• ns.mainnameserver.com
  ns2.mainnameserver.com
  
  

When the name servers have been changed,  it may take 24 - 48 hours for  the different registries to update to point to Digital Ark.  However, in our experience if the change is made in the evening, the updates are usually in place before the start of the following day.

How to transfer domain name

The process above will mean that you will be able to use your domain name with the web hosting provided by Digital Ark.  However, your domain name will still be with the organisation through who you registered your domain name.

You do not need to change the domain registration details to use the web hosting services provided by Digital Ark.  However, we recommend that you do transfer your domain registration as this will remove the complexity of you having to remember to pay for your web hosting through us and pay the domain registration renewal fees through someone else.  If you miss the registration payment, you may lose your domain name.

It is also worth remembering that the renewal fees of .co.uk domain names is included in our web hosting fees.

In order to transfer your domain to Digital Ark, you need to ask your current  provider to:

1. Contact current web host to make sure the domain is ‘unlocked’ (can be transferred).
2. You may also need a Transfer Authorisation Code.

When you have this information we can start the transfer process.

The transfer of the domain can take up to 7 days (note as long as the name servers have been changed this does not impact  moving your web hosting to Digital Ark).  However, it  is our experience that this can be completed in less that 1 hour.

• Change the tag of the domain to 'EXTEND'.
• Contact Digital Ark so we can complete the transfer.

Moving UK domains from 123-reg to Digital Ark:-

• Log in to your 123-reg members area.
• Select to modify the domain you want to move.
• In the Domain Control Panel select 'Change IPS Tag'.
• Enter 'EXTEND' as the new IPS Tag.
• Contact Digital Ark so we can complete the transfer.

Moving UK domains from UKREG to Digital Ark-

• Select 'Configure Domains' from UKREG.
• Log in to your account.
• Select the UK domain that you want to move
• Select to modify the IPS Tag.
• Enter  'EXTEND' as the new IPS Tag.
• Contact Digital Ark so we can complete the transfer.

Moving UK domains from Easyspace:-

• Login to your Easyspace Control Panel.
• Click 'Service Management'.
• Select 'Transfer Management'.
• Click 'Transfer Away'.
• You then need to call the number provided to get a licence key.
• When you have the key click 'Click Here'.
• Select your domain name and enter the 'licence' key.
• On next screen select  'EXTEND' from the drop-down list and enter your credit or debit card details.
• Contact Digital Ark so we can complete the transfer.

Moving UK domains from VistaPrint:-

• Contact VistaPrint support and advise you wish to transfer  domain.
• VistaPrint will add a Transfer Domain Package to your VistaPrint shopping cart.
• Checkout the VistaPrint cart and you will receive an e-mail that provides a link to a transfer control panel.
• Contact Digital Ark so we can provide guidance on what needs to be changed to allow the transfer to take place.
